For the basics :
- Get engaged in the community :
    - You have forums that you can access and engage with other member
    - You have groups that you can join. Most groups are here to share your arts, but lack interaction with others. Beware not to join groups to big, nor too tiny (dead) if you want to make friends this way.
dawelcomewagon.deviantart.com/ is a group dedicated to welcoming new members.
When your account will be 2 weeks old you will be able to earn points (a site-wide currency) on dahub.deviantart.com .

- How to get more views/fav/watch :
    - Be active in the community : Comment, watch and fav others, be helpfull or simply friendly
    - Give llama badges ( kishanbagaria.com/userscripts/… helps with that).
    - DaHub as stated above : you can trade earned point to receive watch / fav (Watch are way more valuable as people might see your future paintings)
    - Post your art in "sharing" groups (this will get you only few views, but you can post in 10+ groups)
    - Post your piece in the forum "Deviation Thumbshare"
